Club Training day was held at club member Sarah Willets place, Cypress Valley Kennels, in Marshall Texas this month. Despite the early morning rain it turned into a great day of fun and training with about 16 folks and as many dogs participating. The dog ran levels from first time to pick up a bird(congratulations Thomas !) to the finished level. In the morning we set winger and bumper boy marks for all levels and ran the dogs from a mock judges line. Lots of good practice, advice and laughs were had. In the afternoon we split up with the young guns(the dogs, not necesarily the handlers ) running started water marks and the the more advanced dogs working on blinds and marks. In-between we gathered around a couple of grills and everybody brought a little something. We had ducks, quail, boudin, sausage and even some mule deer burgers on there! Don't you just love the food coming out of you freezer after hunting season :-). I mean pizza is good but.....I'd have driven to Sarah's just for lunch if had any idea what was coming in those coolers !! A big thanks again to Sarah for letting us use her place for training. It is always appreciated. And thanks to all those who participated Watch for info on next months training day location on the website. Good luck at all the hunt test this month and remember to let folks know about our clubs up coming hunt test on March 3 & 4. |
